Students Amy Thornley and Louise Lawler

The idea that started with the word ‘fake’ lead myself and Louise Lawlor to set up a fake design studio. From the environment itself, down to the work and the interactions with other people, everything in this project was a complete forgery. Primarily the concept was to see how pretending to be something we weren’t would make us tap into our inner child and allow us to access the purest form of creativity, make believe.

As this project progressed we began to explore the professional process of running a design business, how it could be exploited thus allowing us to break design ethics. This disregard for ethics was to make the fraud all the more obvious whilst trying to gage the reaction of the design community. Afterwards an artists book was produced to show the ideas, development, reaction to and the inevitable self destruction of fake design studio.
